About Joann Sfar’s ‘La Vie Dessinée’ and how his love for drawing makes me draw too.
A Drawn Life.
Buying books online last month I bumped into this catalogue of a big Joann Sfar retrospective exhibition a couple of years ago. I have been a devoted fan of his work and his approach to the act of drawing for decades, but the last few years he went off my radar. I ordered the book without thinking too much, having an overview of his work would always be a good idea. Specially since Joann is very prolific and incredibly scattered: every time I read something about him, I discover books or movies or even novels I had never heard of.
The following is a little ode to the master, using a clumsy version of his style and characters, in the hope you all get a feeling of what he does without needing to Google it.
